While the Garden continues to donate fresh produce and eggs to those in need, it is expanding its mission to the interruption of poverty as a whole - not just the interruption of hunger. We are partnering with Family Promise of Cobb County and are now providing temporary housing to families in need using the Giving House. We moved our first family in this month. We are part of the World-Wide Organization of Organic Farmers (WWOOF), and have hosted WWOOFers from all over the country, and even a family from New Zealand. WWOOF is an educational and cultural exchange program, where those visiting can learn practical farming skills, be part of the organic agriculture movement, and experience the heart of American agrarian culture. We were selected Fall 2018 to be part of the American Community Garden Association National Conference Garden Tour.
Also in Fall 2018, we were been awarded a grant from the Whole Kids Foundation for education on bee keeping and another from Wellstar Hospital for an outdoor Children’s Learning Farm to Table Eco play house. We have all of this going on and we are 100% volunteer run. We are a grassroots organization with no staff. We have accomplished all this with unpaid volunteers from the surrounding community, and we have only been around for a little more than 2 years!
No donation is too small. We have Paypal giving fund which allows for a donation without any fees from a third party organization: www.paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/3286825. If you would like to make a monthly donation online, you can do that at our website. By donating toward the Giving Garden, you are fighting back against poverty in the form of hunger, housing, and education.
